Just a quick reminder to keep your TV tuned to NBC tonight to watch Kyle Bennett, Mike Day, and Donny Robinson for the mens BMX race! Live coverage begins tonight on NBC at 10 PM EST. Check your local listings or NBC’s Olympics site for deets.
Also, here’s a pic of Mike Day’s bike setup for the Olympics we saw over at Profile Racing. Sweet!

This month marks a new addition to my garage aka “man cave”. A big thank you to Tim McKercher, Watertop Unlimited, and Sea Doo for your support. Call me if you want a pull, if I like you then I’ll answer my phone.

I’m off to Europe to visit Copenhagen, Denmark to ride street and skateparks and then off to the T-Mobile mini ramp contest in Hamburg Germany. After that I’m home for a day and head to the East Coast (Washington, DC area) to film with stew johnson. It’ll be a crazy few weeks but that’s pretty much been the theme of my summer anyways so why change it now? haha
Here is a random riding shot from the X-games a couple weeks ago. (even though that has nothing to do with this news update). Also, check my blog on the Ride BMX site.

Missed Jeff K by an hour the other day when we went to Lake Owen Camp. He is having a rough time, wired shut grill from a slam a few weeks ago. Didn’t stop him from riding and wakeboarding…Can’t stop’em. He sent over this pic of his new ride, looks pretty and dialed… Get better Jeff.

Each year I try to make a trip back to Wisconsin, Green Bay in fact, where I was raised. This year was mainly to see my parents and my brother. But it’s hard not to meet up with Dave Freimuth seeing as he is so close. Every year I go back I don’t really ride all the old childhood spots that I grew up on. This year I made it a point to ride a few hours a day and actually found a ton of new places. Here are some pics, but the real show will be coming soon, working on a Profile web edit that should be out in a month…stay tuned to profileracing.com.

The pic of the a/c units was a random spot I found one day. The bank up to it is loaded with weeds, but it pops perfectly. There was a guy next door that came out and had the look of “I am gonna fight you”. I actually was ready to raise my fists. He must have had a bad day with his crap job towing cars; I just stared at him, flinched him and it was over. Was able to get more than a few clips here. Hope all is well in BMX land and go Brett Favre, Packers vs Jets for the Superbowl.
As you probably know by now, BMX is making its debut at the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games, and our own UGP riders Kyle Bennett and Mike Day are half of the US BMX team. The races will be televised on NBC in the US and CBC in Canada, and should be live, but make sure to check the schedule to make sure you catch the BMX action!
Tuesday, Aug 19: 8:00pm – 12:30am
Wednesday, Aug 20: 8:00pm – 11:00pm
Note: NBC will also have a replay Thursday, Aug 21, 2:00am - 5:00am
For a more detailed breakdown, and details on the race formats, check the article on the NBL website.
We got together with the National Bicycle league this year to start the UGP Open Series, and the championship is going down this August 29th. Here’s the word from the NBL:
In addition to more than $4,000 in spot prizes at the NBL Pro Events, all riders who make 2 Open mains at National events will be qualified to enter the UGP Open Championship. And it gets even better – Any riders who make 4 or more mains are qualified for the Championship plus they receive a “limited edition” UGP Number plate when they register for the Championship. (Note: if you have a class without a main, it counts the same as making the main).
Go to the NBL news story and read the full list of people who are qualified for the UGP Open Championship.

Ohio has been pretty fun recently. A band played at Chenga 57 while it was an open session, so we are riding the park and before one of there songs the singer screams “Who likes sandwiches?” and then threw out a bunch of individually wrapped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! I thought that was pretty rad. I was hungry too. So it worked out.
Dew Tour was in town that was fun. I got an ironic photo. Morgan Wade wearing a shirt that read “Please stop the tailwhips” with legend Joe Johnson, Joe invented the tailwhip and double-whip air and also was the first to try a triple whip, pretty funny photo. Also got to hang out with flatland legend Chase Gouin, he’s legal and back in the country. Don’t sleep on Chase, that’s all you need to know for now.

So the last 6 weeks have been some of the most busy of my entire life. Every Summer I expect things to get busy but it always seems to exceed my expectations. Not complaining one bit. My lady and I started in Greenville on June 18th and drove up to Baltimore for the first Dew Tour. I was pre qualified so fortunately did not have to worry about riding OQ.

The contest was OK… I rode well in practice but in my runs I managed to slide out and ended up not doing so well. Oh well, I was pumped overall on the weekend. From there we went to NYC. I had never been there before and it was beyond amazing. Morgen (my lady) has family friends who live on Central Park on the 14th floor. Super nice place and not only that… but they have an separate guest apartment on the 10th floor that we were treated to for our entire stay. Activities included a mountain bike ride around the entire lower Manhattan, MET and Natural History Museums, a Broadway play (Spamalot) and just general tourist stuff around times square. It was a real good time and I look forward to going back sometime soon.

Kevin from the NBL sent us a few photos from the Music City Nationals, which were held a couple weeks back in Nashville. Go211, as always, has all the video you could ever want. Check it out right here.
