Dan Sieg checking in from Jamaica

So I’ve been rather busy since my last news post. Fighting through this back injury of mine and traveling plenty. After having an incredibly slow winter with little to no riding I got right back into the swing of things with a trip down to Jamaica. It was for a company that I’ve never done shows with before but a friend of a friend put in a word for me. I flew to Jamaica on a Saturday. Hung out that night and did some things that one would do in Jamaica. Sunday was spent all day at the beach. Not just any beach though… when most people travel to Jamaica they tend to stay in the touristy side and it looks just like any other vacation destination. However we were hooked up with locals and we got to see the side of Jamaica that most don’t.  From the beach we went to the Krash Test Dummies place in Portmore. The ramps were a bit shaky and I was a bit sun burnt and out of it from the beach all day but we rode a little. My bike was still at the hotel in the bag so I rode some of the locals bikes. Was really fun to have a chill backyard session on a random Caribbean island. The next day (Easter Monday) was the demos. We drove out there and the ramps were already set up and built. Two 8 foot quarters, a box jump and a spine were ready to shred. It was pretty windy but we managed to make the best of it and put on a good show for well over 20,000 Jamaicans in attendance. It was a pretty fun event.  Open bar ensued after that and we learned a bunch of Jamaican words while talking some trash. The next day I was driven to the airport, paid in cash and then flew back to Greenville. Quick, easy, and amazing. So much fun… I can not wait to go back next year. Right now I am in the midst of Spring school show tour for a company called Rise Above BMX. Really fun shows due to who I’m on the road with… Brandon Dosch being one of them. That kid is truly amazing on a bike and even more fun to hang out with. Good times for sure. So far in three weeks we’ve driven almost 4 thousands miles. And there is no signs of slowing down. As soon as I’m done typing this we are driving from Greenville to Atlanta. So on that note… I should get going. Just wanted to check in and spread the good word!
