Weekend in the Big Easy

Bourbon StreetJust got back from a long weekend in the Big Easy. New Orleans is sweet, good food and never a shortage of weird people. The wife n kid came with me for a little family time on Bourbon Street. I always thought, “Why would they bring a child to New Orleans”. Now I am that guy.

When I first met my wife, she would buy us tickets to the French Quarter for a weekend just to eat. I thought she was nuts, well she is. But then I realized it’s entirely worth it. The food is amazing, the crazies are out during the day, and every couple of minutes there is something photo worthy. Katrina didn’t really affect this area of New Orleans, well not in a structure or damage standpoint. It still has the same feel and dirty streets with nasty puddles that you don’t want to play in.

Even if you lock your bike up... Anything you want in the Big Easy Pat O's will turn you red, good red son...

This trip we didn’t venture out into the neighborhoods. We usually do just to really feel the shock and magnitude of what really happened. I mention this cause there are still soo many houses and neighborhoods that are like ghost towns. The hurricane changed this city forever. So get down there for Mardi Gras and see what happens…
